Honor Review, Price, Specification

After a 2016 big sweep, Honor offers another excellent smartphone. Honor 6X was certainly not a surprise, since it had been launched already for weeks on the Asian markets, but there was still a lot of waiting for a product that, given the hardware and its price, had ruffled the antennas of many readers.

The beautiful packaging of Honor 6X contains an internal USB-cable USB Type-C, a couple of good stereo headphones and a power supply for quick 9V/2A charging.

The design of this Honor 6X is definitely the biggest difference, which inherits almost all the hardware available. The metal profile recalls the color of the body covered by a beautiful double layer front-glass back. The back was then made with a technique that allows light to refract on it so spectacular.

This same body retains the imprints enough, but never too showy. A nice touch of class to have integrated camera lenses in the outer glass and then have risen each step to the touch in that area. The smartphone being so smooth is a bit slippery when placed on smooth surfaces, while it is comfortable to hold in hand.

Honor 6X Specs

The processor chosen for Honor 6X is a Kirin 655 octa-core 2.3 GHz, which differs by the clock frequency from the Kirin 650 in Huawei P9 Lite. We have a T830 MP2 Mali graphics processor, 3 GB RAM and 32GB internal memory, which is expandable by purchasing a microSD. This will occupy a slot that otherwise you could also use for a second SIM card.

Connectivity is excellent and LTE is guaranteed to 300 Mbps, Wi-Fi ac dual-band and Bluetooth 4.2. Do not miss the NFC, as is also the notification LED inside the ear capsule. There are two other differences compared to P9 with the presence of an infrared port and the fact that the precise place of the fingerprint reader can also work as a quick shortcut if pressed. The speaker is instead positioned on the lower part and guarantees quality and volume above the average.

The camera is a dual 12 megapixel. One of the two sensors is a classic RGB, while the other is monochromatic that captures more light (by its nature) but only in black and white. What is this sensor? Should enhance photos of the main camera but our tests have not led to any results and considering the fact that unlike Huawei P9, it cannot be used "solo", and its only function is to calculate the distance of objects in space and in post-production. The quality of the shots is very good in almost any shooting condition with very fast focusing (thanks to laser autofocus) and fast click.

Then the competition from much higher price are definitely the shots with little light to show some limit, while making this stay Honor 6X as one of the best in its category. The videos are recorded discretely in Full HD at 60fps and the camera makes good selfies at 8MP, with a virtual flash and option for panoramic shots.

The panel is 5.5 inches and has a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). IPS technology also allows it to ensure well calibrated colors (but you can still adjust the settings) and excellent brightness. The only "but" is given by the automatic brightness that sometimes sets to its minimum setting.

There are big news about the software. Let's talk about Android 6.0 Marshmallow heavily customized by Huawei Honor interface EMUI 4.1. It may not please everyone, but it's great customization surely allow it to find favor with the majority. We can independently manage the permissions of the app, the notifications and access to the network. Then there is an app for themes (many for free download), a health app and NFC tags.

Among the functions are the possibility to reduce the screen for use in a hand, the possibility to modify the system tray and eyes protection for the display. There is also good multimedia software for video and music. The default browser is Google Chrome instead. Android 7 Nougat should arrive shortly.

With a 3340 mAh non-removable battery, the results are excellent. Even with heavy usage, the smartphone will run a full day. With moderate use, it is not impossible to use it for two days.

Honor 6X Price

Honor 6X is now launched on the market at a price of Rs. 12,999 in its version of 32 GB. Considering the price of Huawei P9 and competition, this is definitely a great introductory price. Honor 6X can be purchased now in black, white or blue.

Final Judgement

Huawei Honor 6X is slightly changed and improved with good display, camera, build quality and battery life. Considering also the beautiful design and its low price, Honor 6X is definitely one of the phones of the year so far.
