While waiting for the future products like Tamo, Tata unveils its new 4 door city car, the Tigor that will replace de facto the Tata Indigo. The Tata Tigor is anything but a surprise. At Tata, 5-door city cars are systematically available in 4 doors. Tata Tiago was bound to pass. The concept car Kite 5 of 2016 announced this future 4 doors. And so, here is the Tigor. Aesthetically, it takes again the features of the Kite 5. The originality is a pavilion very tilted at the back, way cut 4 doors.
The Indian manufacturer prefers the neologism Styleback. The back is cut with the serpe to pass under the 4 meters long synonymous with surtax in India. A style also typed is rare among low-end Indians. The outgoing model, the Indigo, was also very classic, to see banal. Nevertheless, to exist, Tata has to shake the coconut tree.
Under the hood, one should find the 1.2l Revotron 85ch and the 1,05l diesel Revotorq 70ch that equip the Tiago. And like its sister, it should benefit from the new automatic box.
The car should be unveiled next month. At one time, Tata sold 10,000 Indica/Indigo per month. No doubt it plans to do at least as well with the Tiago/Tigor tandem. The next launch will be the compact Nexon SUV, in the second half. With the SUV Hexa, this brings us three new products this year. A new offensive at Tata. Nevertheless, as has already been said, the manufacturer has no choice, if it wants to leave the marginality.
Tata Motors is updating, little by little, its range of models in the main markets in which it is present. Tata's sales as an independent brand is not the best and to improve the situation, at the leadership of the group, they have decided that their cars should improve. The path they have taken is to improve their designs, interior qualities and equipment levels.
One of the models that should reverse this situation is Tata Tiago. The model did not reach the market with the best possible foot since at first it was called Zica and because of this virus had to be re-baptized to avoid the negative connotation in the model. Overcoming this first stumbling block in the house, Tata is working to give him a brother with sedan bodywork and tenor of the image filtered by the brand seems to have the final model quite advanced.
As we can see, its resemblance is more than reasonable with the Tata Kite 5 that the firm presented last year at the New Delhi Auto Show, although in this case, will abandon that name. However, it is more than likely that the brand's new sedan will look more like Kite 5. In addition, being developed on the platform of the Tiago, Zest and Bolt its mechanical range will be formed by the 1.2 liter Revotron gasoline blocks with 83 hp and 1 liter Revotron diesel and 69 hp.
For now we do not know much more details of the model. Tata has not reported definitive dates although it could reach the market as early as next month or prices. The only thing we know is that the Tata Tigor will have to face their home market with the super sales Suzuki DZire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze.
Indian group Tata Motors is continuing its plans to improve the company's product portfolio. Leaving aside their collaboration agreement with the Volkswagen Group they continue with their launches and the next in addition to their signature sports car Tamo will be the small sedan Tigor. This model is the sedan version of the Tata Tiago and is ready to reach the Indian market throughout these days.
The firm already released, before the Geneva Motor Show opened its doors, sketches of what would be the design of this flirty model. In the Swiss appointment he presented it officially and now that he is already known by the whole world is ready to start marketing in his native country. As we know and if we remember the Tigor has this peculiar shape because it can not exceed four meters in length and therefore the designers of the firm have to play with their volumes.
However, it does not look much like the design of that first sketch, we must say that it is not the worst car we have ever seen. The part of the design that is more complicated to deal with is the rear and in this case the designers responsible for the brand have been able to play with the shapes to hide their saloon format and look like a slightly grown hatchback. For its part, the design of the front is very similar to the one that has the Tata Kite 5 as it has only received some touch-ups to update it on this one.
The interior design of the model improves a lot with respect to the models that the firm has launched in previous years. Obviously the qualities of the materials will not be top-notch, but Tata is learning a lot from his Jaguar and Land Rover brands and now he takes more care of forms and materials. The equipment that will mount the Tigor will include among other elements front airbags, ABS with EBD, automatic climate control or infotainment system with touch screen. Obviously it will not be a very profuse equipment, it should keep its price at bay, but it will not have large gaps.
To give us an idea of how special this car is for Tata we have to talk about its proportions. It is built on the modern XO platform and measures 3,992 meters in length, 1,677 meters high and 1,537 meters wide. With these numbers in hand he achieves a trunk of 420 liters of capacity. To move this set has two mechanics Revacron diesel in 1 liter and 68 hp Revotron diesel and gasoline with 1.2 liters and 83 hp. Both are linked to a manual gearbox and five ratios, although later will come a CVT automatic cut.
