Samsung Galaxy S7 was finally launched. Samsung last year was successful with the Galaxy S6 to do something that no one had yet been able to do in the Android world and remain in the collective imagination as one of the best and most successful smartphones in general. They were not without flaws, but the new attractive design and strong emphasis on specific areas was rewarded. This year Samsung choose the conservative road to keep what was good and improve the improvable.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Unboxing
The pack is not particularly elegant and contains a power supply with support for fast charging (9V/1.87A), a USB-microUSB cable, a pair of good in-ear headphones with adapters and a travel box and a USB OTG adapter.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Build
Samsung has chosen a fairly conservative way from the point of view of design, which is also strengthened by the fact that the last model has certainly made inroads in the collective imagination. But what has changed? The company chose a metal of a slightly darker color and also chose to make the rear window rounded on the two long sides with slightly better grip. Overall the smartphone is extremely well designed that gained slightly in thickness for the larger battery, but with new interesting details. But the real news from the build point of view is the fact that the smartphone is now IP68 certified.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Hardware
For the European version of the Galaxy S7, the company has chosen to continue with its own processor. We speak of an Exynos 8890 octa-core up to 2.6 GHz with Mali T880 GPU MP12 that delivers great performance, even for gaming. This is possible thanks to 4GB of RAM memory and 32GB fast UFS 2.0 present in this smartphone which by the way despite being encrypted maintains its excellent performance virtually unchanged. The biggest news in terms of hardware support, however, is actually a great return of microSD and we cannot but be happy.
The rest of the connectivity is then at the top with LTE up to 450Mbps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Miracast and MirrorLink. Then there are the fingerprint reader on the front and the heart rate sensor on the back. Although both have changed positively, you can notice the real difference on the fingerprint reader, which is faster than its already fast predecessor. What is missing? Infrared port and FM radio.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Camera
The camera of Samsung Galaxy S7 is totally different in almost every way to Galaxy S6. It has a lower resolution (12 megapixels), a new technology (dual pixels), new lenses and longer focal ratio (f/1.7) with the single LED flash and optical image stabilizer. The big difference is found in night shots where it can do better than almost any other smartphone in circulation.
The quality is still significant in shots with good light where the pictures are rich in color and detail. The starting speed of the app is also very good and the incredible focus speed. The video stabilization is now at 60 fps in full HD, Hyperlapse or slowmotion up to 240fps in HD.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Display
The 5.1 inch screen remains substantially unchanged from the previous model except perhaps for a slightly higher Automatic brightness adjustment with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and Super AMOLED technology. The display resolution is very high with vivid colors, excellent brightness and optimum adaptation to the external lighting conditions.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Software
The inbuilt Android version is 6.0.1 Marshmallow. We also have multiwindows, the app window and the Smart Manager. As a novelty we have the Galaxy Labs to enable experimental features. Then present is a new Game Tools to disable all distractions during games and also to record the flow of the same. Generally speaking there was a slight rejuvenation in the interface. The themes still struggle to find quality or otherwise related to our tastes. Given the remarkable performance of the software the company at this point should take care to renew the aesthetics of its TouchWiz.
Well the browser supports a safe navigation with the imprint, while for the multimedia sector, Videos must be downloaded from GALAXY APPS. Samsung music app is still missing.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Battery
The battery is now 3000 mAh managing to position itself just above average and thus solving the biggest problem of last year's smartphone. It has rapid charge and also offers Wi-fast charging.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Price
Samsung Galaxy S7 is sold in India in black, white and gold at 43,400 INR.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Review
It's difficult to doubt the Samsung Galaxy S7. Considering its heritage, and seeing how the company has solved a whole range of defects can only pass with flying colors, or near with this smartphone. At this point the software have the most room for improvement for 2017, but for now let's enjoy a great smartphone.
