Book Review: Lou Malloy: The Run Begins

Lou Malloy: The Run Begins: A Lou Malloy Crime Series by J Frank James takes us into a zone where everything is not what it seems, or maybe it is and the real merges with the most terrible fantasies, the dreams and the nightmares.

Lou Malloy is 18 years old and all set for the world, other than is the planet prepared for him. His brother Sam has gone and his sister wishes to shift to Florida with the relations. Malloy is having not any of it and on a feral split second decides to leap in a boxcar going he knows not where.

The significant thing is that it’s not in Kansas as he has a dilemma and that predicament is money. He doesn’t have any until Henry Lowe, who is in the same boxcar, offers Malloy the covenant of an existence. All he has to do is lend a hand to Lowe to strip a casino in Georgia. With the undertake of a life-size payday, Malloy throws in with the plan and fasten his destiny everlastingly.

This book was a revelation where we are faced with a different editorial product, the narrative is fascinating and mysterious from the beginning, nothing paranormal or characters with super powers, everything beautiful and very rich teenagers who has finished school and live in terraced houses, nothing nothing nothing deja-vu from other books of any kind.

The setting is on a city and then there is a magical component rather veiled, because the story takes in a precise manner and this then has reinvented as the way the author preferred, and the result was excellent. The narrative rhythm is quite fast, and not boring, and the author was very good at recreating the quest, and ambiance with a little magic and crime and put them inside a story entirely truthful with normal characters but no less interesting.

We are confronted with real problems of everyday life. Also the descriptions are able to empathize with the reader in every scene, because the writing is perfectly vivid, evocative, and suggestive and it seems to be there! And this is definitely one of the fundamental qualities, because if a novel manages to fascinate you so much and to guarantee a total identification means then that really is a novel that is true!

The main characters are characterized to perfection, seems always known, a little least some secondary characters, who sometimes give the idea that they have little thick, but then it is clear that the book actually belongs to another category.

An extraordinary psychological thriller with a story full of tension, which does not leave a breather, and that pushes you to read one more page, and then another where there is no way to escape anywhere, as the protagonist himself hunted and the game begins again in a different form, more and more terrible.

The rush of events, past and present, the detailed description of the places where the story takes place, simple language and the mystery that accompanies the reading, make this story a fascinating novel that manages to engage the reader from the first to last page relentlessly.
