Thandai a refreshing drink made from milk, sugar, ground almonds, sunflower seeds or pumpkin and spices. In the Holi carnivals it is quite common offer of a glass of Thandai to passersby. It contains, sometimes in small doses, of cannabis. Sure, if you're in the mood to celebrate, give you a hand to lose your inhibitions.


Almond Thandai Recipe

Prep Time: 30 mins ♥ Cook Time: 20 mins ♥ Total Time: 50 mins ♥ Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:

1 cup yogurt
1 cup almonds
1 cup milk
1 cup water
5 tsp sugar
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp fennel powder
1 tsp poppy powder
1 tsp cardamom powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup ice cubes
Dollop of plain yogurt
Few drops edible rose water


Recipe Method:

Beat the yogurt with the water. Add the boiled milk, sugar, almonds till it becomes smooth and frothy along with  the pepper, cumin, fennel, poppy, cardamom powder, lemon juice and salt.

Refrigerate for 3 hours. Pour in tall glasses filled with crushed ice. Add a few drops of rose water and stir. Add a dollop of fresh yogurt on top. Serve chilled.
