Google Pixel Review, Price and Specifications

Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL was born with yet another collaboration between the group of Mountain View and HTC to set new benchmarks in the smartphone segment. Two devices based on Android technology, with top of the line specifications and prices that put them right in the high-end market. Those who choose to buy them can count on immediate receipt of official updates for the coming years.

Google Pixel Specs

Let's start from the smallest model, Pixel. It is a phone with a 5-inch display comes with AMOLED panel with full HD resolution (1920×1080 pixels, 441 ppi) covered by glass Gorilla Glass 4 Corning. The computing power is ensured by the presence of quad core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 2.16 GHz with 64-bit architecture and supported by 4GB of DDR4 RAM. As for storage, however, you can choose between the 32GB version and much more capacious 128GB, of course, in the face of a greater economic outlay. But it lacks the slot to read micro SD cards.

The first thing that catches the eye and observing Pixel and Pixel XL, considering the design, is the difference in size. The smaller model has in fact a footprint less than 143x8x69x5x8x6 mm and a weight of 143 grams, while the larger one you go up to 154.7×75.7×8.6 mm and 168 grams. Three colors available at launch: Quite Black, Very Silver and Blue Really, the latter in a limited edition. The unibody chassis is made of aluminum with glass parts.


The operating system is preinstalled to launch Android 7.1 Nougat, the first major update for the N Release of the platform. Hotel it will be fully integrated with all the bigg services. They include the Google Photos , and for the owners of Pixel devices provides the unlimited storage at full resolution, without forgetting the applications at and Duo for communication.

Pixels are the first smartphone to be born with the technology Google Assistant integrated: to activate an extended tap the Home button is enough. From the point of view of the interface, the main screen has received a makeover as regards the icons, now circular.

As for prices, Google has chosen to place Pixel and Pixel XL in the high-end market, which directly compete with competition from devices such as iPhone 7, Huawei P9 or Samsung Galaxy S7. It starts at $ 649 for the 32GB version of the smaller model, then growing to other variants. The arrival on the market is fixed for the month of October, with pre-orders open from 13 October in the territories of United States, Australia, Canada, Germany and UK.
