Micromax unveiled a new metallic smartphone called the Yu Yureka Black with an 8-megapixel front camera and a fingerprint reader, that aims to win over younger users with a medium-high level hardware and a very low cost. The model is supposed to compete with the Xiaomi Redmi.
After Yureka S, Yunique Plus and Yunicorn, the alternative brand of the Indian group Micromax, came back with a new smartphone, the Yu Yureka Black. It is an entry-level premium smartphone, with moderate specifications, but a few benefits that are worth the detour. It begins with the shell, that is made of metal with separation line for the well visible antennas.
It is also very similar to what brands on the same niche might offer, such as Oppo, Vivo, Huawei or Xiaomi. And as it suggests, it is available in black only, but with two variants of matte black or glossy black.
At the front, you'll find a 5-inch IPS Full HD screen with a resolution of 441 pixels per inch covered with a 2.5D glass slab. The home button will have a fingerprint reader. Inside this rather premium design, we find the Snapdragon 430 SoC processor, the new darling of low-cost manufacturers because it is the first Snapdragon 4XX that offers compatibility with 1080p screens.
The October-Cortex-A53, clocked at 1.4 GHz, is here accompanied by 4 GB RAM, 32 GB of storage (expandable by microSDHC up to 64 GB extra) and a battery of 3000 mAh. On the connection side, we find the usual skewer of WiFi n, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE (VoLTE), GPS, micro USB 2.0, 3.5 mm jack, dual nano SIM (the second location being a hybrid).
It is equipped with two photo sensors. A first in the rear of 13 megapixels. This is a Sony model IMX258, with a dual LED flash and a phase-detection autofocus. At the front, the webcam is an 8-megapixel model with fixed focal length and frontal flash. The whole is controlled by Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a slight overlay, which should be updated shortly after.
The mobile is 8.73 mm thick. Its weight is 152 grams. It is on sale in India and more precisely on the merchant portal Flipkart which obtained the exclusivity. Its price is 8,999 rupees. Yu Yureka Black seems to be an excellent value for money, especially when associated with Full HD screen, metal case, and fingerprint reader.
We are interested in this mobile because it shows the obvious rise of low-cost segments. But prices could fall rapidly. We are waiting for the release of Honor 6A to know if this is confirmed.
Yu Yureka Black is sure to gain the range of users aged 18 to 25 years, as the smartphone is offered at a low cost, and also is a nice aesthetically pleasing product.
